Last week, when Ohio lowered the age range for Covid 19 vaccinations to those over age 50, for once I felt a tiny bit of privilege! I made my appointment for today, and then this morning, Ohio announced that those over 40 would be eligible for jabs come this Friday, and all those 16 and above would be eligible on March 29th.
Turns out I’m not special at all, man.
But I’m cool with it. I supposed that I would be eligible for the vaccine late Summer at the earliest. I’m astonished that the vaccine will be available to so many people, so soon. Could we possibly be past the worst of it? I hope so.
Hope everyone gets the vaccine as soon as possible.
(P.S. I got the Moderna vaccine, so I guess I’m in for it after the second shot. Oy.)
congrats on getting it! no matter the math, that’s a win. I hope that means they’re doing a great job of sticking people and not that it means that lots of people aren’t getting it…
Congratulations..,.that has to be a huge relief, I know it was for me. I finally found a benefit to working at a hospital/university, they offered me vaccine in January, and I ran to the nurse’s station that same day they offered.
January! You lucky dog. I was really pleased that my folks got theirs early on (seconds dose in February), but less pleased that Dr. Evil can’t get her first dose until late April. It seems that doses are languishing in some areas and thin on the ground in others. VA enrollees and their kin are eligible immediately, but I’ve never registered with the VA.
I know that the VA can vary, quality-wise, from hospital to hospital, but I’ve always got excellent care here at the local, and being service-connected and all, the prescriptions are free, which saves me a bundle. Most of the docs here are at UCSF anyway(same place I work), whether as faculty or as students/interns, so it works out nicely. Only reservations: the VA Canteen serves inedible food, and they tend to play Judge Judy at really high volume in the waiting areas.
